MHRI is an initiative of the National Health Fellow representing Etsako East Local Government Area in Edo State. Its flagship implementation model is the Sister to Sister Maternal Support Network.
Closing maternal care blind spots at community level
Baseline tracking in Etsako East identified a serious support gap, approximately one in five pregnant women lacked baseline emotional support and structured medical follow-up. MHRI responds through early identification, active support, PHC connection and measurable follow-up.

Trained local female volunteers identify pregnant women and establish trusted contact.
Digital registration
Approved KoboToolbox forms support offline-capable registration and follow-up.
PHC connection
Mothers are linked to participating Primary Healthcare Centres for skilled ANC services.
Education and reminders
Sisters reinforce approved maternal health information and encourage appointment attendance.
Referral support
Concerns are escalated to qualified health workers, especially when urgent attention may be needed.
Monitoring and learning
Programme data supports transparent reporting, partner accountability and continuous improvement.
